Spreading Compassion, Warmth, and Comfort to the Needy with Blankets.
Our Donate-A-Blanket project is inspired by our mission to give people in need a voice. Our blankets donation initiative reaches out to community members in Bomet County through providing quality and durable blankets to warm them against cold temperatures. Listen to their stories to understand why we are always happy to serve.
Testimonies from the Grassroots
Lucio Bon from Kimugul village, is happy to have received a blanket after suffering from cold nights. At her old age that is a relief allowing her to sleep well and get adequate rest. She is thankful to the benefactor of the foundation and gives her blessings so that it can keep helping more people.
Richard Ngeno, from Chesoen village says, “Tekelbei Foundation came over to our community to help the elderly. My house was initially very cold but now I feel warm after getting a blanket donation from Alvin Kibet. I used to get sick and always sought medical attention.”
“My name is Selina Sang and I live in Manjililiet. It used to be very cold at night. When I got this blanket, it became warm and it’s even bigger in size and can cover more people. I am thankful to Alvin Kibet.” Selina also appeals for a mattress to sleep even better.
Elizabeth Chepkwony from Katet village says that with the donation her life improved and she could share it with her grandchildren. Her prayer is the foundation to have more ability to help more people.
Cecelia Kilel from Kaptembwo village says she kept tossing and turning because of the biting cold during nights. But not anymore ever since she received the blanket. Now she can sleep better which is good for her quality of life.
Gloria Korir, another beneficiary from Leldaet village, is thankful that she can now keep her family warm. She also requests that the foundation bring more blankets as there is still a huge need.
Francis Ruto, from Kipsiwon village, expresses his gratitude due to the blanket he received as he sleeps better and doesn’t have to deal with coughs or getting sick. He extends a warm invitation to the benefactor to his house.
Linda Chelangat from Kipsiwon village confesses, “This blanket has really helped us. We were using small, light cheap blankets. It was not enough to cover all of us.
We used to pull it back and forth to fit us all. This blanket is big enough to cover five people. This blanket changed our lives. I am grateful.
We never thought we would ever own such a blanket because it’s very expensive.”
Giving blankets allows us to meet people at their most basic needs. From their responses, it shows that something as simple as a blanket is a treasure.
Owning something of value makes us feel good. As the foundation, we want to keep spreading the spirit of giving to the vulnerable in our society.
We welcome all donations to expand our Donate-A-Blanket project because there will always be a need.

Remembering The Elderly.
Caring for the elderly reaffirms how important and valuable they are to our society. Growing older is a privilege but it also comes with age-related challenges. Thanks to the Donate-A-Blanket project we are able to help the elderly enjoy their golden years.
Most of the senior citizens point out that having the blankets has helped them get better sleep than before. This is a good thing given as we grow older falling asleep takes longer.
Selina Milgo and Sally Kitur from Katet village both convey their gratitude to the foundation for gifting them with a blanket.
Now they are warmer and sleep better given their advanced ages.
Winnie Cheruiyot says,” Our mother had chest problems and the blanket has really helped and the problem ceased because the blanket is good and heavy. We thank the Tekelbei Foundation and may they be blessed.”
Philip Kibet and all the others are also very grateful to the foundation for remembering him and other elderly people and making life better for them.
Previously, Susan Kilel from Kipsiwon used sackcloths and goat skin to keep warm. She is now happy to have been a recipient of the blankets and now cold nights are in the past.
The more we interact with the needy in society, it reveals a lot more about the human condition. That is, there is still more we can do for others.
Our Lives Improved with These Blankets
Florence Rono and her mother Philomena Ruto, say they now have an extra blanket to keep warm. They are happy and thankful for the foundation’s support.
Florence Kikwai, another one of the many beneficiaries attests her life became better having never owned such a nice blanket in her life. She also shares that being the caretaker of a child who faced health challenges at birth, the blanket served her well to protect the child from cold conditions.
“I took him to hospital, and the doctors were perplexed at how he managed to survive. I informed them I have a good blanket that keeps him warm and he didn’t have to be put in a hospital nursery,” Florence adds.
She concludes by showing her gratitude and passing her blessings to the benefactor, Alvin Kibet, for his generosity and hopes the foundation will continue to assist more people.
Knowing that our blankets donations leave a lasting impact on people’s lives inspires us to seek and work with more collaborators to transform communities.
Giving a Sense of Ownership.
As per the traditions of the communities we serve, passing down things of value is a way to honor the memories of loved ones who have passed on. Most of the family members of the beneficiaries share how they value the blankets left to them by their elders which enhances a sense of ownership.
According to Margaret Maina, her elderly mother received the blanket happily and was able to keep warm. After the passing of her mother, she inherited the blanket and is glad she can share it with her grandchildren. She expresses her gratitude to the Tekelbei Foundation and implores for more assistance.
Winny Siele is also another beneficiary sharing a similar story as the current owner of the blanket that previously belonged to her departed mother. Before, her mother used to complain of cold and got sick with pneumonia. Thanks to the blanket she slept better and was warm.
“When the foundation gave us blankets, my dad was using light weight blankets and had chest-related problems. When the foundation thought of us, things became better and my dad lived for more years,” says Dominic Ruto who also later inherited the blanket.
Janet Sigei praises the blanket she got from her parent, saying she sleeps better and is able to function well mentally and physiologically in her daily living.
We find these responses, a great motivator for the foundation to keep helping more people in need.
